Himie Voxman is among UI's most honored faculty and administrators. Bruce Mahan was an educator, researcher, and writer at the State Historical Society of Iowa and the University of Iowa. He was born in Bedford, Iowa in 1890, graduated from the University of Iowa in 1914, taught school in Cascade, then returned to Iowa City for his MA and PhD in History. Mahan was an editor for the State Historical Society of Iowa until becoming head of the University's Extension Division in 1929. He wrote more than 50 articles for the Palimpsest.
